Between classes, clinicals, office hours, and everything else the University packs into a week, dental care is the kind of thing that gets postponed a semester at a time. We would like to fix that. Willis & Associates Family Dentistry Ivy sits at 2216 Ivy Rd #205, Charlottesville, VA 22903 — straight out Ivy Road from Grounds, about 8 minutes door to door. No downtown parking hunt, no crosstown trek. Just a short drive west and free parking when you arrive.
A Dental Home Between Classes, Rounds, and Office Hours
We have been part of this community for a long time — over 30 years of trusted service, doctor-owned — and the University has always been part of our patient family. On any given day our chairs hold undergraduates due for a cleaning, graduate students finally dealing with a wisdom tooth, professors squeezing in a crown between lectures, and hospital staff who just came off a shift.
Because we are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, most people find a slot that works around a class or clinic schedule. An 8:00 AM appointment can have you checked, cleaned, and back on Grounds before a 10:00 lecture.
Built for Quick, Efficient Visits
Speed only matters if the care behind it is thorough, so we invested in technology that delivers both:
- iTero digital scanning — a fast wand scan replaces the tray of impression goo, whether you are being fitted for Invisalign or a crown.
- Overjet AI diagnostics — AI-assisted X-ray analysis gives your exam a second set of eyes, so small problems get caught while they are still small (and cheap) to fix.
- CBCT 3D imaging — when something needs a closer look, from an impacted tooth to implant planning, we have hospital-grade imaging on site instead of referring you across town.
For Students: Your First Grown-Up Dental Visit, Made Easy
If this is the first time you have booked your own dental appointment — without a parent handling the logistics — welcome. It is easier than you think. We accept most major insurance plans, including many parents' plans that still cover students, and our front desk will happily verify your coverage before you commit to anything. Start with a routine exam and cleaning, and read our new patient's guide to your first dental visit if you want the play-by-play.
We are also putting together a dedicated dental guide for UVA students covering the questions we hear most — insurance, timing around breaks, and what to do about that tooth you have been ignoring since orientation.
For Faculty, Staff, and Hospital Teams
University and health-system employees tend to want two things from a dentist: honesty and efficiency. You will get a clear explanation of what we see, what we recommend, what can wait, and what it costs — then the decision is yours. Nobody here sells treatment. And because our office is west of Grounds rather than downtown, you are driving against the worst of the traffic in both directions.
When something breaks, cracks, or starts throbbing during the semester, our same-day emergency care exists for exactly that moment. Call (434) 977-4101 first thing and we will find you a chair.
Finding Us from Grounds
Head west on Ivy Road past the Emmet Street intersection and keep going — we are at 2216 Ivy Rd #205, on the right, a few minutes past the athletic complexes. Coming from the hospital or the Corner, it is one straight shot; from North Grounds, Barracks Road connects you to the corridor quickly. Full turn-by-turns are on our directions from UVA page.
Plenty of our University patients also live out this way — see our Farmington and Boar's Head and Ednam pages, or the full list of areas we serve.
Four years goes fast, and careers here go faster than you would think. Give your teeth a home base: call (434) 977-4101 or book online.
